Power Meter
Purpose
The Power Meter is a troubleshooting tool, aimed at helping the installer quickly
verify and correct cabling and/or equipment problems. The Power Meter allows
you to connect a cable between equipment (or some other light source) and the
detector of the Fiber SmartProbe
+
, then measure the power level. The results
can be saved to the tests database for later viewing.
Operation
From the Fiber Tools menu, press the
Power Meter
button. If the probe
inserted in the WireScope 350 has been calibrated (see Power Meter Calibration
below), the screen below on the right will appear. This is the Fiber Power Meter
tool. The Data Table shows a constantly updating power level while indicating
the wavelength of the inserted Fiber SmartProbe
+
.
The tool allows you to store the current power level as a reference by pressing
the
Set Reference
button. Once the reference is stored, the Delta field is
constantly updated to reflect the difference between the Reference value and the
current power level. This will provide a valid Delta field that shows a constantly
updating difference. The
Save
button allows you to save the current values in
the Data Table for later viewing. The
Calibrate
button brings up the Power
Meter Calibration screen described below.
