Chapter 13
Fiber Tools 105
Length and Delay
Purpose
Length and Delay is a test used to quickly measure the length and propagation
delay of the fiber under test. It uses the currently selected cable’s specifications
to get the NVP.
Operation
From the Fiber Tools menu, press the
Length & Delay
button. This brings you
to the Fiber Length test screen. From here you can either go to the
Quick Setup
,
or you can start the measurement. The
Measure
button will only appear when
the WireScope 350 detects a valid fiber connection. Press the
Measure
or
button to update the length and delay values for each fiber in the Data Table.
Quick Setup Overview
Pressing the
Quick Setup
button brings you to a screen where you will be able
to set the configuration as single or double ended, fiber type, and the NVP value.
Here, the fiber type and NVP are test specific. In other words, any changes to
the fiber type and NVP will NOT be reflected in the system settings nor will
they be preserved if you were to exit and re-enter the Length and Delay tool.
