System Buffer, CAC, & Policing Options Menu
The System Buffer, CAC, & Policing Options menu (see
) used to display and
provision parameters that control AIS/RDI generation, cell policing, overbooking, sharing,
class scheduling, and traffic shaping. This menu also provides access to similar Loop, WAN,
and Port menus via the hot keys.
Figure 18. System Buffer, CAC, & Policing Options Menu
For Traffic Descriptor types that do not explicitly request the Cell Delay Variation Tolerance
(CDVT), an implied CDVT is provided. The implied CDVT that is used can be calculated based
upon the information in
.
The System Buffer, CAC, & Policing Options menu options are shown in
Table 12. Implied CDVT Calculation
Traffic Class
CDVT Formula
Constant Bit Rate (CBR)
50% of (1/PCR)
real time Variable Bit Rate (rtVBR)
60% of (1/PCR)
non-real time Variable Bit Rate (nrtVBR)
80% of (1/PCR)
Unspecified Bit Rate (UBR)
100% of (1/PCR)
Note: The value 1/PCR is the cell arrival time. All values for CDVT are entered in
100 nanosecond units (10ths of a microsecond).
