PROVISIONING
All provisioning takes place through the DS3-PSM/PCU communication link via DS3-PSM
menus and/or SNMP access to the DS3-PSM. Onboard switches or jumpers are not provided.
The DS3-PSM retains all provisionable data for the ESMs on its MDE link in a nonvolatile
memory device. However, the ESM retains its serial number and CLEI code.
Autoprovisioning
If Autoprovisioning is enabled on the PCU, the provisioning of the previous PSM, including
Service State, is written to the new PSM upon installation if the newly installed module is of
the same device type as the previous module.
Linked Provisioning
The Linked Provisioning option transfers provisioning settings, except Service State, between
the online and offline modules to keep the provisioning settings on both modules identical. A
change in the Linked Provisioning status to either module is transferred to the other module,
causing both modules to always have the same Linked Provisioning status. Therefore, both
modules are either always enabled or always disabled.
Autoprovisioning does not overwrite Linked-Provisioning settings received on installation.
All subsequent provisioning changes are made through the PCU communications link.
