In many cases, the home theater media room system is setup to run independently of the multi-
zone Delta System. For such homes, ADA provides the System Titanus which is based on the
combination of the SSD-66 Surround Decoder (acting as the theater's preamplifier - volume
controller) with the VS-3 8 Source A/V Switcher (acting as the system driver and input selector
{much like the Delta-88 is to the multi-room system}). When using the VS-3 in the System
Titanus, as a linear input selector (not scrolling), the home theater will act as an independent
system outside of the multi-room system and can still be controlled by a keypad similar to the
keypads elsewhere in the home. This home theater system can still share all or some of the
sources that are common to the whole-house A/V system. The use of a VS-3 as a System
Titanus (the VS-3 address set to "STAND ALONE") does not limit the use of additional VS-3's
as scrolling input selectors on the Delta System. When using the VS-3 in a System Titanus,
seveal benefits are available.
1
Since the VS-3 acts as its own input selector outside of the Delta-88, the home theater can
access sources specific to only that room. You may choose to provide some of the sources to
both systems, while the theater would get additional video sources and the house would get
more audio only sources. Naturally, you could parallel all sources to both systems as well.
2
The VS-3 has three outputs which independently access all eight source inputs. The
outputs can be keypad or touch screen controlled making the VS-3 the ideal controller for
sport's nuts. If your client desires a full blown media room, with a large primary viewing
screen (the audio tracks this surface) and two outboard TV monitors for preview, the VS-3 will
do the trick allowing control of source selection to all three monitors (viewing surfaces).
As in the previous page, the VS-3 System Titanus and the multi-room Delta System will each
connect to form their own network. Again, the sources common to both systems connect to
their own WH-3000 to form the common source network. The BI-3000s are used for the MT-
3000 and SSD-66 for noise isolation from the ADA Bus™ as well as providing isolation of the
theater system cross talking to the multi-room system and visa-versa. If the theater had sources
accessible only in the theater, a second PCT-8 source controller (not shown) could be connected
directly to the VS-3's WH-3000 since it is local to only the VS-3 System Titanus sources. Please
note, since the VS-3 acts as its own input selector, you will need to "Y" split all common sources'
line-level (& composite video) to the VS-3 and primary Delta-88. If you were installing a system
where two Delta networks are needed (over 16 zones) and also a System Titanus home theater,
there would actually be a total of four networks. One System Titanus network, two Delta
networks, and one source network. One BI-3000 Bus Isolator would be used between each
Delta network-source network, the VS-3 network, and source network, in addition to those
commonly required by the MT-3000 and SSD-66.
If you are using a touch screen or computer system controller (i.e. AMX or Crestron) for full
house system control, you will need one BC-232 ADA Bus™ to RS-232 convertor for every
Delta network and VS-3 network. If you are using more than one VS-3 (even if the two or more
units are operating in the same room) you will need one BC-232 for every VS-3. Furthermore,
you will need one RS-232 port (ADA specified) on the computer control system for every Delta
network, VS-3 network, or VS-3.
