If your system is source heavy, provisions can be made for an eighth extra source, specifically
for rooms that don't require video but don't want to leave a source input on the Delta unused.
While the eighth source button, labeled VIDEO in the first three zones, accesses a specific VS-
3 output, the rest of the home's keypads could have their eighth source button access and
control an extra audio source (i.e. CD 3). In this case, the system mainframe will program all
rooms to control the eight audio sources (including the extra audio source). After this
programming is done, the video rooms will simply change the programming for their eighth
source button to control one of the VS-3's outputs. Please note, that if you are going to use all
eight audio inputs, zones with VIDEO buttons and audio overrides, as described in the
following sections, may have limited access and will have no control of this eighth source. If
the rooms with VIDEO buttons are using Audio Options 1, 2, or 3, the rooms will be able to
select and hear the eighth audio source only when that room's TV is off, since the TV triggers
the audio override. If the room is wired as in Audio Option 4, the room will never be able to
access this eighth extra source since the audio override is automatic when that room's keypad
selects the eighth source. If the rooms with VIDEO buttons don't have any type of audio
override, they will be able to listen to any of the central audio sources even if the TV is on. Any
room programmed for a VIDEO button will not be able to control the extra audio source. If the
extra audio source does not include a timer/play function, the source will already need to be
in play in another room in order for the user to hear it in the room whose keypad is
programmed with a VIDEO button.
Video Option 2 - Using one VS-3 to provide independent video selection in twospecific
rooms and common video (same to all rooms) for the rest of the house.
As in the previous Video Option, a single VS-3 is used to provide three independent video
outputs, however in this option, only two of the VS-3's output are used specifically for single
rooms. The third output feeds back into Delta System such that all other rooms can access the
central video sources. If the other room's don't have any TVs and simply wish to at times
monitor the audio from a video source, then only the VS-3's audio output will feed into the
Delta-88's eighth source audio input. If your system is using a VSM-8 Video Switching Module
in the Delta-88, then the VS-3's composite video output can also be sent into the Delta-88 for
switching video to all other rooms. Again, two rooms, typically a theater and master bedroom,
could independently select and control the video sources, while the rest of the house can select
and control its own video source. The rest of the house can only select one video source at a
time. For rooms in the rest of the house that don't have TVs, the eighth source button on their
keypads could monitor the video source yet have no control of the video source or the selection
of the video source.
Two additional variations exist in which two or all three VS-3 outputs feed back into the Delta.
Again, the Delta would be equipped with a VSM-8 Video Switching Module and the VS-3
would simply have its two or three outputs occupy two or three inputs on the Delta System.
In such a case, the keypads would have VIDEO 1, VIDEO 2, and maybe VIDEO 3 buttons where
each button acts as its own video source on the system. Please note, that while this setup would
provide independent selection of three of the eight video sources simultaneously, no lockout
function is available to prevent one room from changing another room's selection assuming
that they both have selected the same VIDEO button (the same VS-3 output).
