Transport Control
The PDF-3000 is the interface by which the ADA Bus™ keypads control the PD-F100/107 CD
changers. The PDF-3000 also displays the selected "TRANSPORT FUNCTION" on the MC-
3000 and MC-3800 controls. When using the PDF-3000, you will not need to assign a PCT-8 port
to control the CD changer as it the changer's control stage is built into the PDF-3000. Using a
1/8" male-to-male mini-jack, typically provided with Pioneer CD changers, the PDF-3000
connects to the PD-F100/107. Without this wire in place, you will not be able to control the CD
changer. The functions from the keypads are such that repeated pressing of the source button
(CD1 or CD LIB) will provide "DISC SKIP UP" control. The << and >> buttons operate "TRACK
SKIP DN" and "TRACK SKIP UP". The > ("PLAY"),
➱
("STOP"), and II ("PAUSE") buttons are
all straight forward. The < button access "RANDOM PLAY". The numeric buttons including
* and ENTER on the MC-3800 provide direct disc and track selection. For example, to select
disc 5 track 6 on the CD changer, you press the #5 button and then the * button, followed by
the 6 button and then the ENTER button. As on the PD-F100/107 remote control, the * button
refers to Disc Enter and the ENTER button refer to Track Enter.
MC-3000 & MC-3800 Feedback
The PDF-3000 also reads the PD-F100/107's changer status including registering if the CD
player is in "PAUSE" or "STOP" modes. If you are listening to a selection, for example disc 2
- track 5, the keypad will display "DISC 2 TR 5". This data feedback is true real-time data and
should any one room select another disc, all other room keypads on this CD changer will
update with the new disc and track number. Furthermore, if the client advances the CD
changer using its original hand-held remote control or the buttons on the changer itself, all
keypads selecting this source will automatically update to the new disc and track number. The
connection of the PDF-3000 to the PD-F100 or PD-F107 is accomplished using the special multi-
pin data cable provided with the PDF-3000. If this cable is not in place, the keypads will not
display any data.
