MC-0038
Hand Held Infrared Remote Control
The MC-0038 is a special hand-held infrared remote control that operates much like an MC-
3800 with the exception of receiving data feedback. As with any ADA Bus™ hard-wired
keypad, the MC-0038 is zone specific, in that, it will operate a preprogrammed zone. Even if
you take the MC-0038 to another room with an active IR receiver, the control will operate the
preprogrammed room, not the other room just moved
into. Thus, the MC-0038 is not capable of being carried
from room to room. If you require IR control in several
rooms, each room will need its own MC-0038. Fur-
thermore, since the MC-0038 does not receive system
status data, it cannot skip to the "NEXT ROOM" or
"PREVIOUS ROOM" as can the MC-3000 or MC-3800.
Functions are clearly labeled on the MC-0038 and
button layout is similar to the MC-3800. When used in
a home theater with an SSD-66 (THX), the MC-0038
BASS UP, BASS DN, TREBLE UP, and TREBLE DN
buttons are replaced with MODE, VOL PRESET, DE-
LAY, and MONO ENHAN buttons as would be an
MC-3000 or MC-3800.
Three levels of programming need to be performed on
the MC-0038. The first two are done by setting the MC-
0038 by setting the DIP switches inside the MC-0038
using the chart on the next page. These two steps
assign the type of system the MC-0038 is working with
(in this case a Delta System or a Delta System with
SSD-66 (for home theater use) and the room number
the MC-0038 is controlling. Both system addressing
and room addressing should be done prior to the third
stage of programming (source button programming).
The source transport buttons, including the numeric
direct access buttons, correspond to control buttons on
the MT-3000, PCT-8, PDF-3000, or Special Computer
Controlled CD changer. Therefore, the MC-0038 needs
to be programmed from the Delta-88 for source trans-
port control (the assigning of source buttons to specific
source addresses). Finally, in order for the MC-0038 to
be programmed from the Delta-88 it must be con-
nected to the ADA Bus™ via a hard-wire connection.
This programming is usually done in the last stages of system setup, after keypads have been
programmed and are up and running.
