If roof exhauster fans draw MORE air out of the bin than aeration fans are pushing in, the bin
roof and walls could collapse due to excessive vacuum or internal pressure.

When fans are operating, make certain the vents are open and kept clean of all debris and frozen matter.

Operating a fan without adequate roof venting or with partially or fully blocked vents can
cause damage to the bin roof.

Do not operate when conditions exist that may cause roof vent icing.

Note

Roof vents should be sized at 1 ft

for every 1000 ft

Fan Rotation and Orientation

The fan is designed to provide air flow in one direction. Operate with positive pressure with air entering through
the bottom and exiting out the top, see

.

The air flow direction is labeled on the fan’s housing. Never attempt to reverse the air flow by reversing the
fan’s wiring. Reversing the wiring to change the airflow will result in the airflow being significantly reduced and
can damage the roof. Operating with negative pressure is not covered by warranty.

Multiple Fans

When using multiple fans in one bin, you must prevent reverse rotation of idle fans by making certain fans start-
up simultaneously or by employing shutters that shield blades from moving air. Reverse rotation of idle fans
pose concerns for the worker safety and fan/motor wear and tear. Contact your Westeel dealer for the
appropriate size shutter.

If two fans are installed on this EasyDry® Bin, then ALWAYS run both fans at the same time! It
is important to run both fans at the same time even while testing only one fan/heater at a
time. If both fans are not made to run at the same time, the increased air pressure inside the
bin will cause the fan that is not running to spin backwards at high speed. This could
potentially cause damage to the motor of the fan that is not running.

7.3. Before Filling the Bin with Grain

Following this list will prevent problems that may otherwise occur during the unloading process.
