ILLUSTRATIVE PURPOSES

ADJUST PIPE RUPTURE VALVE

1. Load elevator to maximum rated capacity and raise to the

top fl oor by either pendent or placing a call.

2. Remove cap nut on pipe rupture valve and loosen the jam

nut.

3. Turn the set screw in (clockwise) until the valve is fully

closed.

4. Lower the elevator with the pendent, the valve will set

A. If the valve does not set, contact technical support

before proceeding any further.

5. Turn set screw out (counter-clockwise) until 5/16” is

exposed over the top of the jam nut, then lock with jam
nut.

6. Run elevator down and ensure the valve does not set

during normal operation.

A. If the valve sets during normal operation , adjust the

set screw as necessary.

7. Thread the cap nut back over the set screw and tighten

against the jam nut.

TEST THE PIPE RUPTURE VALVE

*Ensure oil is at room temperature before testing the valve.
1. Turn Down Speed Override (#5) clockwise until fully closed.

Lower elevator to actuate pipe rupture valve.

A. Ensure valve sets at a speed in the range of 110-140%

of maximum rated speed (40 feet per second) per
ASME-A17.1

B. If necessary, adjust pipe rupture valve until

appropriate setting speeds are met.

2. Once valve is actuated (elevator will completely stop) turn

#5 counter-clockwise until completely open.

3. Raise elevator to reset pipe rupture valve.
4. Seal valve with tamper evident seal.
