2.3 The Setup and Calibration Process
2.3.1 Setup and Calibration Overview
Before the ACON Ultra system can be used to perform its correction operations, the system must
be aligned and configured to work properly with the installed hardware system (including the
projector, camera mounting, projection facet, etc). The system configuration is directly related to
the physical relationships of these hardware components; thus, if any of the components of the
hardware system are moved, portions of the
AU initial alignment and configuration must be
repeated.
The lower levels of the diagram represent initial setup operations to perform. As these lower levels
are completed, their higher level dependencies may also be completed until the test point sets are
built, calibrated and finally, memorized.
As indicated in the previous table, the initial Alignment and Configuration process involves several
steps – some of which may have to be repeated during the complete configuration process. The
remaining sections of this chapter detail the process.
2.3.2 ACON Ultra prerequisite tasks
AU performs its geometry correction operations against a pre-established projector geometry
layout. Because of this, the projector must be properly mounted and the projector’s mechanical
and electrical geometry must be aligned as desired before the
AU system can be configured and
the appropriate relationships built. Among other settings, proper alignment includes: picture
settings, geometry settings, color convergence, and color and image quality settings.
