2.1.2_USING AN EXTERNAL SOFTWARE
Step 1:
Download and install a VNC Client software application on your device.
Step 2:
put the Altitude
16
and your device on the same network. The Altitude
16
joins your existing Ethernet network: use an
Ethernet cable to connect the Altitude
16
.
Step 3:
Open your VNC Client and configure it in order to connect to the VNC Server. Choose one of these options:
A. iOS devices, Android devices, or Mac OS X computers: the zeroconf-enabled VNC client available for these devices will
not require knowing the IP address of the Altitude
16
.
B. Windows computers: you will need to configure your VNC client (Tight VNC) with the IP address of the Altitude
16
.
Step 4:
Once your VNC Client is configured correctly, connect to the VNC Server and start using the Altitude
16
graphical
user interface.
NOTE: Keep in mind that some of these softwares are not zeroconf-enabled. You will need to enter the IP address of
the Altitude
16
in order to connect.
_GETTING THE IP ADDRESS FROM THE ETHERNET SETTINGS
To get the IP address from the Ethernet settings via the front panel:
Click on the menu button. Select the Setup > Network > Ethernet page. Turn the Source/Item selection knob to scroll
through the settings.
Figure 21: IP address in the Setup > Network > Ethernet page via the front panel
In order to access your unit, you will have to provide a password.
The field VNC server address now shows the name “#VNC Server on Altitude16-XX”, where XX is the number of the
Altitude
16
. Go to the field VNC password and enter the password, which is the six-digit serial number of the Altitude
16
:
the password is 00000X if the serial number of the Altitude
16
has a single digit;
the password is 0000XX if the serial number of the Altitude
16
has 2 digits;
the password is 000XXX if the serial number of the Altitude
16
has 3 digits;
etc...
2.2. _CHANGING THE NETWORK SETTINGS THROUGH THE FRONT PANEL
2.2.1 _USING DHCP
The DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is a standardized network protocol
used on Internet Protocol (IP) networks. The DHCP server dynamically distributes network
configuration parameters (IP addresses, netmask etc…).
You can activate the DHCP (on) if the Altitude
16
is plugged to the network with an Ethernet cable. Most cases, all the
network fields will be field in automatically.
2.3 _CHANGING THE ETHERNET SETTINGS THROUGH THE GUI
This subchapter explains how to change the Ethernet settings of the Altitude
16
to meet the
requirements of your home theater’s technical environment.
