COLLOCATION WITH DME
2.6.1
Overview
This description concerns to the collocation of DME 415/435 with ILS 420, LLZ/GP. The DME equip-
ment is normally located in the GP shelter and the DME antenna is mounted on the GP mast. To syn-
chronize the identification, the collocated DME uses an interface with the LLZ system. To transfer op-
tionally "Maintenance" and "Status" of the DME a RS 232−cable connection is established between
GP and DME if the DME is not connected with an individual modem (internal or external) to the Tower
resp. to a Remote Unit (e.g. RCSE 443 or MCS) via a 2 wire lines connection.
2.6.2
Connection of DME 415/435 to ILS 420 LLZ/GP
2.6.2.1
Ident Connection
See Figs. 2−21, 2−30, 2−31, 2−32, 2−33.
− Connect the airport−side data cable already laid between LLZ and GP shelter (Fig. 2−32) to the
AF−distribution box in each shelter.
− Lay the ID−cable (Ref. No. 24009 xxxxx) in the GP shelter cable duct. Connect it to the connector
SK4/AF1 on top of the DME cabinet and the open end to the AF−distribution box of the GP shelter:
sequence of connection see Fig. 2−33, terminal points in the AF−distribution box see Fig. 2−21
and 2−31.
− Lay the ID−cable (Ref. No. 24009 xxxxx) in the LLZ shelter cable duct. Connect it to connector J10
(ENV. SENSORS, DME, DETECTOR IN) on top of the cabinet and the open end to the AF−distribu-
tion box of the LLZ shelter: sequence of connection see Fig. 2−33, recommended terminal points
in the AF−distribution box see Fig. 2−21 and 2−31.
NOTE:
The ground connection between LLZ and DME remains open. Connect shielding of cable
between LLZ and GP shelter one−sided only.
2.6.2.2
RS232 Connection
− As standard, the DME is located in the GP−Shelter. To establish the RS 232 connection plug adap-
ter Ref.No. 97243 28211 (Fig. 2−32 and 2−34) to connector PL1/Port 3 on top of the DME cabinet.
− Place the RS 232−cable (Ref.No. 97240 28166) in the GP shelter cable duct. Connect it to the
adapter (on top of DME cabinet) and to connector J23 LGM2/DME on top of the GP cabinet.
− Sequence of connection on GP and DME see Fig. 2−34.
− Check that connection to connector J23 LGM2/DME is fed from J2 on the BP−Digital rear.
NOTE:
The adapter 92243 28211 can be ommitted if a RS 232 cable is used with 1:1 through con-
nection (not crossed).
2.6.2.3
Configuration of ILS 420 LLZ/GP and DME 415/435
The configuration is set both with hardware and software settings at the LLZ 421 and DME 415/435.
Ident collocation software setting concerns localizer only. Check or/and perform following settings:
