Personnel Requirements
Three persons are required to install the antenna and perform the related adjustments. The leader
of the installation team should be an engineer, technician or experienced master craftsman. Special
training and initiation by Thales are urgently recommended.
The fitters should be trained craftsman, for example mechanics, electricians or locksmiths.
The installation time for the antennas depends on preparations; for the 12 element antenna it will be
a minimum of 5 to 7 days, and for the wide−aperture antenna (21 elements) a minimum of 6 to 8 days
(calculation based on a working day of 8 hours). Additional times should be calculated for cabling
and other precision work.
1.2.3
Tools and Special Materials
The delivery list provided by Thales should be checked at as early a date as possible in order to iden-
tify materials not included in Thales ATM’s scope of delivery which may be essential for the infrastruc-
ture of the overall installation. For example, materials for grounding the ILS installation must be pro-
vided. Suggestions and instructions on correct grounding are contained in Chapter 2. The following
tools and equipment are the minimum required to unpack and assemble the LLZ equipment and the
LLZ antenna system:
