CP525 cMux User’s Manual Rev. 5.20.12 (3944)
10.10.1.1 Setting up an ECM connection
Setup of the scrambler is done from the Conditional Access menu located within the Device
Info tab. Setting up a connection requires a number of parameters which must be specified for
each entry. Creating connections and a description of each parameter is given in
.
All parameters must be specified by the CAS for proper operation.
When all parameters for one connection with one or more corresponding streams are set, one
can try to establish a connection to the ECMG.
On a successful connection (indicated by the status field next to each connection), the CP525
will start generating random control words, which it then transmits to the ECMG in exchange of
ECMs. The received ECMs are now linked to a SCG (Scrambling Control Group) which generate
a new random control word for every crypto period. ECMs will be played out immediately ,
even if they are not signaled.
However, if the connection doesn’t succeed due to TCP errors, an alarm will be given. If the user
has specified alternative ECMG server(s) as described in
, the SW module will
try all servers in turn until it manages to establish a connection. If the connection is lost while
connected the module will also try to change to one of the backup servers. The scrambler will at
the same time extend the encryption period using the last control word until a new connection
is established. It will also continue transmitting the last received ECM, which ensures that the
signal always will be encrypted.
The connection may also break for other reasons, e.g. received error messages from ECMG. If
so an alarm will be given. Be sure to check the details field in the alarm log for an explanation.
See
for details regarding the alarm log.
10.10.1.2 Scramble service
When an ECM connection is successfully established as described in
scrambling
of services and components can be set up.
Setting up a service for scrambling is done by navigating to the output, selecting "Edit" for the
desired service and choosing the
Scrambling
tab from the
Edit
menu. See
for
details.
It is possible to define scrambling in both "Service level" and "Component level" views. When
configuring scrambling at "Component level" one may override the default settings specified
at "Service level", or set up separate settings for each component regardless of the settings at
"Service level".
When setting up scrambling one must choose the SCG (Scrambling Control Group) from a
drop down menu listing all ECM connections previously created in
. When
the desired SCG is selected the service will automatically be signalled with the corresponding
ECM since the SCG and ECM are linked together in the setup of the ECM connection.
Note:
It is possible to signal ECMs in the service PMT without actually
scrambling any components. This is also possible without a successful
ECM connection.
