Interior Equipment
Typical Carbon Monoxide Detector
is equipped with a stereo amplifier or amplifiers,
they are mounted in the mid equipment room and
protected by circuit breakers in the battery switch
panel. Key pads and displays in the helm and near
the bow seats allows the stereo to be controlled
remotely from the helm or cockpit. Refer to the
stereo and DVD player owner’s manuals for de-
tailed information on the operation of the stereo
and DVD player.
Carbon Monoxide Detector
A carbon monoxide (CO) detector is installed in
the cabin. If excess carbon monoxide fumes are
detected, an audible beeping will sound indicat-
ing the presence of the toxic gas. This detector
is always activated when the house batteries are
connected. A green light on the detector indicates
that it is activated. Always make sure the green
light is on whenever the cabin is occupied.
A by-product of combustion, carbon monoxide is
invisible, tasteless, odorless, and is produced by
all engines and some heating and cooking appli-
ances. The most common sources of CO on boats
are the engines, auxiliary generators and propane
or butane stoves. These produce large amounts of
CO and should never be operated while sleeping.
You should read the owner’s manual supplied
by the detector manufacturer for operation in-
structions and additional information regarding
the hazards of carbon monoxide gas. Also read
more about carbon monoxide, carbon monoxide
detectors and proper ventilation in the Ventilation
System and Safety Equipment chapters in this
manual. This is especially essential if your boat is
equipped with a generator. If you did not receive a
manual for your carbon monoxide detector, please
contact the Scout Customer Service Department.

IMMEDIATELY. DO A HEAD COUNT TO CHECK THAT ALL
PERSONS ARE ACCOUNTED FOR. DO NOT REENTER THE
CABIN UNTIL IT HAS BEEN AIRED OUT AND THE PROBLEM
FOUND AND CORRECTED.
12.3 Cabin Air Conditioner
The air conditioning unit operates on AC power.
It is equipped with reverse cycle heat and can be
operated as a cooling or heating unit. There is
Air Conditioner Compartment
Below Forward Dinette Cushion
one air conditioner with ducts for the main cabin,
head compartment and helm. It is protected by a
circuit breaker in the cabin AC panel and controlled
by the air conditioner control panel in the cabin.
To operate the air conditioner, make sure the thru-
hull valves for the sea chest and air conditioner
sea water supply pump, located in the aft systems
room, are open. Turn the Air Cond circuit breaker in
the AC panel on to activate the air conditioning 120
volt circuit. The air conditioning or heat will then
be controlled by the control panel. When activated,
water should continuously flow from the overboard
thru-hull in the port hull side.
