4.2.5 Removal and re-installation of the power plant
In order to allow operating of the powered sailplane in “pure sailplane
configuration”, its power plant might be quickly removed.
The following components may be removed:
o
Engine with propeller
The mass reduction is approx. 22 kg (48 lb).
Its influence on the c/g position is described in section 6 of the “Ventus-3T”
Maintenance Manual.
Whenever the power plant is removed or re-installed, the empty mass c/g position
must be re-determined and, together with further data, be entered in the weight &
balance log sheet. The removal and the reinstallation of the power plant has to be
released to service.
Removing the power plant
o
Drain fuselage tank - see page 4.2.4.1.
o
Pull off fuel line and impulse line from diaphragm pump.
o
Detach engine wiring terminals. Note the position of each wire - see diagram
11 of the Ventus-3T Maintenance Manual. Additionally detach the connection
to the RPM sensor.
o
Remove cable ties securing the wiring to the pylon.
o
Remove decompression valve interconnecting link and remove pylon-mounted
valve actuating lever - see sketch on page 4.2.5.3.
o
Remove the four engine mounting nuts - see sketch on page 4.2.5.3.
o
Carefully lift engine with propeller free from the pylon fork.
