7.9 Water ballast system(s)
The operating knob in the cockpit actuates the wing tanks and the fin tank (option).
A steel cable connects the dumping valves in the wing to the dump valve of the fin
tank – see page 7.9.3.
The wing tank valves are actuated by a torsional rod, see page 7.9.2.
The torsion rod is actuated by mean of a steel cable.
Water ballast is dumped through 2 openings on each side of the lower wing
surface. One opening is located near the root rib and a further one 1.5 m (59 in.) in
the direction of the wing tip.
On rigging the inbd. wing panels, torque tubes actuating the wing tank dump
valves are automatically connected. Therefore set operating knob in the cockpit in
“closed” position and the torsional drive on the root rib in rigging position.
The operating knob in the cockpit runs in a gate and can be locked in the extreme
position and in a medium position.
