4.2 Assembly
4.2.1 Rigging
Rigging can be done by two people if a trestle or stand is available to be placed
under the tip of one inboard wing panel.
Prior to rigging, all connecting points on fuselage, wing and tailplane should be
cleaned and greased.
Inboard wing panels
o
Unlock airbrake lever in the cockpit.
o
Set water ballast control knob forward in the "closed" position (for tanks
closed)
o
At both inboard root ribs set the water ballast connecting rod in rigging
position*
o
Insert spar stub of port wing panel forward into fuselage cut out. Concentrate
on lifting the trailing edge more than the leading edge also, to avoid the aft
locating pin get canted in the fuselage bearing.
o
Check that the spar stub tip is inserted correctly on the far side of the
fuselage.
o
Ensure that the angular levers on the root rib are definitely inserted into their
fuselage funnels
o
Push in the main wing pin for about 30 mm (1.2 in.) so that the panel is
prevented from sliding out by the CFRP laminate covering the front wing
suspension tube.
o
The wing panel may now be placed on a stand or on a trestle
o
Again check the airbrakes are unlocked
o
Insert spar stub of starboard wing panel, observe same hints as on port wing.

Rigging position: turn the water-ballast shaft, clockwise in the left wing,
counter-clockwise in the right one, until all dump vents are closed.
