Max. Slot Cycle Index
The
Max. Slot Cycle Index
is a configurable parameter which is sent out in the System
Parameter overhead message. It is used to put an upper limit on the slot cycle index
allowed by the BS. The MS has an internally programmed preferred slot cycle index,
which is sent in the mobile's Registration message. The value of the preferred slot
cycle index is visible in area MS Capabilities of the MS Information signaling parameter
list on the left half of the Signaling View (see
).
Example:
●
An MS has an internally programmed preferred slot cycle index of 5.
●
The "Max. Slot Cycle Index" is configured to 3.
Here the System Parameter Overhead message contains the configured "Max. Slot
Cycle Index" of 3. The MS sends its preferred slot cycle index of 5 in the Registration
message, which is displayed on the Signaling View (
CMW determines the "Paging Channel Slot Cycle Index" using
the calculation MIN(3,5), which results in the update of the "Paging Channel Slot Cycle
Index" parameter with a value of 3.

Slot Cycle Index
This is a read only parameter which is used to indicate the slot cycle index in use by
both MS and BS. This parameter, also referred to active slot cycle index, is determined
by the following equation:
Paging Channel Slot Cycle Index = MIN(max. Slot Cycle Index,
mobile's preferred Slot Cycle Index)
