Send Method
R&S
CMW offers three different ways to send messages.
●
Traffic Channel (TCH)
When a call is already connected the message is transmitted by using the Traffic
Channel.
●
Paging Channel (PCH)
When an MS is in registered state, it is possible to send a message using the Pag-
ing Channel.
●
Service Option x
When an MS is in registered state, a call will be established using the configured
service option. After message transmission the call is disconnected and the original
service option is restored
SMS: Test Procedure (Registered State)
1. Create or select an SMS message to send.
2. Configure the send parameters. Among other things specify the send method in
registered state.
3. Verify that the MS is in registered state and click the softkey "Send SMS".
The R&S
CMW sends the message to the MS and transmits it over the defined
method (PCH, SO 6 or SO14).
SMS: Test Procedure (Connected State)
1. Create or select an SMS message to send.
2. Configure the send parameters.
3. Establish a call. Afterwards click the softkey "Send SMS".
Since a call is already connected the R&S
CMW sends the message over the Traf-
fic Channel.
Depending on the selected outgoing SMS message settings, the message is truncated
or multiple files are sent. If requested by the R&S
CMW, the MS sends an acknowledg-
ment back after receiving the message successfully. If an error occurs, the MS sends
an
SMS_Cause_Code
back to the R&S
CMW. After sending the message, the
R&S
CMW updates the entries at "MS Info > Messaging (SMS) Info > Last Sent Mes-
sage" display.
