Getting started – Installing the battery

Model R800D-2-PW – User’s Guide

the correct polarity (Figure 4). The pager will vibrate and beep

if the battery has not been inserted properly.

Note

If your pager is not functioning properly after you have
replaced the AA battery, the internal lithium battery may have
been completely discharged. Allow the AA battery to
recharge the internal lithium battery by leaving the pager
turned off for 6 to 8 hours. See page 115 for answers to
frequently asked questions on the battery.

Turning on the radio

When you first receive your RIM

Inter@ctive

Pager 850

Pager, the

radio will be turned off. You must turn on the radio before you can

send and receive messages.

In the

Home

screen, scroll to and click the

TURN RADIO ON

icon in

the functions list.

The antenna icon changes to an airplane icon to indicate that the

radio is turned on.

There will be two messages in your Messages list when you first

receive your RIM

Inter@ctive

Pager 850

Pager. These are Welcome

messages which tell you how to use your pager and some of its

features.
