DISC COULTER
Spring-suspended (for plows with Non-Stop protection)
Basic setting
Standard version
For deep plowing, hard and dry soil conditions, or with very stony soils, the disc coulters should be adjusted as shallowly as possible
or even be dismantled. In such operating conditions, knife coulters should be used instead of disc coulters!
The disc coulters should work about a third shallower than the plowing depth.
A minimum distance of 3 cm must be maintained between the bearing case of
the disc coulter and the soil surface.
The lateral distance of the coulter disc to the skimmer (or to the plow body - de
-
pending on the equipment) should be at least 2-3 cm.
The more crop residues, the further the disc coulter should be pushed forward on
the retaining rail.
Make sure that the disc coulters run in a straight line while driving. The disc coul
-
ters must never be blocked by an incorrectly set stop clamp. If the gooseneck
„B“ was set incorrectly (e.g. gooseneck turned too far to the plowed part of the
field), the coulter disc would run towards the skimmer. It is always important to
ensure that the disc coulter has enough place to swing to the left and right while
driving ahead and that no collision with other plow components is possible. If this
is not observed, various components can be damaged.
Adjust the distance to the plow body:
¾
Loosen the screws „A“ (hold the disc coulter).
¾
Swivel the gooseneck „B“ to the new position.
¾
Tighten the screws „A“ and set stop clamp.
(the stop clamp must be readjusted after every change
of the gooseneck position)
Adjusting the stop clamps:
¾
Loosen the screw „C“.
¾
Swivel the clamp part to the new position.
¾
Tighten the screw „C“ and then check
¾
The coulter disc must not be blocked to run in a straight line, must be able
to swing freely and must not come into contact with the skimmer.
Adjust depth:
¾
Loosen the screw „D“
¾
Set the new depth by changing the grid position „E“.
¾
Tighten screw „D“, tightening torque at least 190 Nm.
Move disc coulters on the retaining rail:
¾
Loosen the screws „F“
¾
Move the disc coulters to the new position.
¾
Tighten the screws „F“.
For stony soils, we recommend spring-loaded disc coulters. In this system, a spiral spring is used, which
allows the disc coulter to evade stones. After the stone has been passed, the disc coulters automati
-
cally move back into the ground.
The trigger pressure of the spiral spring can be adjusted and adapted to different soil conditions.
Basically, the trigger pressure should be selected so that the disc coulter only triggers when there are
stones/objects in the soil.
¾
Increase the trigger pressure: Turn nut „A“ clockwise (for hard and dry soil conditions).
¾
Reduce the trigger pressure: Turn nut „A“ counterclockwise. Make sure that the nut is not turned
too far, at least 5 mm of thread must protrude from the nut.
The settings for: distance to the plow body, stop clamps and retaining rail are to be done in the same
procedure as for “Standard” disc coulters.
