Note: After you configure a partition for Cartridge Based Replication,
you should periodically synchronize it to keep it in sync with
the target partition (see Synchronizing a Partition on
page 188).
Replicating a Partition
Replicate a VTL partition to send a snapshot of the partition to the
target system. A snapshot is required to recover the data on the
partition at a later time. If you have not configured a replication
schedule for a partition, replication only occurs when you manually
initiate it (see Scheduling a Share or Partition for Replication on
page 358).
Note:
During replication, cartridges that are in use on a partition are
skipped.
To replicate a partition, select the partition and click Replicate Now . The
status of the replication job displays in the Status column.
To cancel the replication job, select the partition and click Abort
Replication .
Synchronizing a
Partition
Synchronize a VTL partition to synchronize the contents of the partition
with the corresponding partition on the target system. To synchronize a
partition, it must be configured for Cartridge Based Replication (see
Configuring a Source Partition for Cartridge Based Replication on
page 187).
Synchronizing a partition ensures that the contents of the source
partition are the same as the target partition. The synchronization
verifies that the same cartridges exist in both locations, and that no
additional cartridges exist in either location.
You should perform a synchronization in any of the following situations:
• When Cartridge Based Replication is first enabled for a share.
• If a Cartridge Based Replication job fails.
• If Cartridge Based Replication is disabled for a time and then is re-
enabled.
