dowel holes. Then tape the LE firmly
against the fuse. Cut away the tape
around the dowel holes.

11. Apply expanding polyurethane glue
to the wing’s LE and dowel blocks that
will be against the wing. Lay waxed
paper at the wing saddle and LE area.

12. Insert the dowels into the blocks
and then insert the dowels into the fuse
saddle LE. Make sure the waxed paper

is under the wing’s LE and extends back
past the dowel blocks. Position the wing
firmly against the ply LE.

Make sure the wing’s upper surface is
pressed firmly against the wing saddle.
To provide some pressure at the LE,
you can use a clamp as shown above.

13. While the glue is drying you can
take measurements from the wing tips’
TE to a reference mark at the tail to
ensure the wing is positioned
symmetrically. If one side of the wing’s
LE needs to be slightly offset from the
¼” LE to achieve equal distances from
the wing tip to tail, you can add some
wood to that side between the LEs.
The wings’ LE skin (applied later) will
cover the 1/8” ply LE and any wood
spacers, if any.

14. Use a portion of the foam piece that
you cut from the wing to fill in the space

above and below the balsa block. Use
epoxy to glue them in.

1. Find the ¼” ply plates measuring 1
½”x1 ¾”. Mark their centers and drill a
5/16” hole at the center. Tap in the 1/4-
20 blind nut. We always apply a little
glue under the blind nut before tapping it
in.

2. With the wing positioned on the fuse
(after you ensured equal measurements
for wing tip to tail) mark the wing bolt
holes location on the rear wing joiner
plate. They should be 3 ½” from the
wing centerline and centered on the
plate. Drill these 9/32” holes through
the ply and epoxy/glass layer only with
the drill bit – the drill bit does not make
for a clean hole in the foam.
