5-32. Paper Ironer (Figure 5-28)

a. Removal

ă1. Place ribbon drive assembly in service position per paragraph 3-4c4.
ă2. On P6080 only, loosen two comb clamp screws (1) and lift up comb clamp (2) to gain access

to ironer mounting screws (3).

ă3. Loosen four paper ironer mounting screws (3).
ă4. Place hammer bank assembly in service position per paragraph 3-4c5.
ă5. Separate paper ironer (4) from printer (5).
ă6. Remove any paper chaff from paper ironer mounting area.

b. Installation

ă1. Place paper ironer (4) in printer (5) under clamp (6).
ă2. Place hammer bank assembly in operating position per paragraph 3-4c8, but do not inĆ

stall comb clamp.

ă3. Tighten two middle then two outer screws (3).
ă4. Slip comb clamp (2) under screws (1).
ă5. Tighten two screws (1).
ă6. Place ribbon drive in operating position per paragraph 3-4c, 9 and 10.

5-33. Paper Feed Belt (Figure 5-29)

a. Removal

ă1. Disconnect power cord (1) and open cover (2).
ă2. Loosen setscrew (3) in bushing (4).
ă3. Slide bushing (4) off spline shaft (5).
ă4. Shift spline shaft (5) to right until bearing (6) is free of right side plate (7).

NOTE: If belt tension prevents step 5 from being performed, loosen four

screws (8) and allow motor (9) to shift thus reducing belt tension.

ă5. Slip belt (10) off paper feed motor pulley (11).
ă6. Remove belt (10) by slipping it over forms adjustment disk (12).
