P6040/P6080 Corrective Maintenance

5-28. Cam Wick (Figure 5-24)

a. Removal

ă1. Remove flywheel assembly per paragraph 5-27a.
ă2. Remove screw (1) and clip (2).
ă3. Remove wick (3) and inspect. Discard if necessary.

b. Installation

ă1. Using a heavy cloth moistened with isopropyl alcohol, remove all metal shavings from flyĆ

wheel assembly (4) and housing (5).

ă2. Position wick (3) as shown in figure.
ă3. Install screw (1) and clip (2). Install flywheel assembly per paragraph 5-27b.

5-29. Magnetic Pickup (Figure 5-25)

a. Removal

ă1. Gain access to MPU by performing procedures of paragraph 5-26a, 1 through 4.
ă2. Loosen two fasteners (1) and open rear door (2).
ă3. Working through rear door, disconnect MPU leads (3) from terminal strip (4) by removĆ

ing two screws (5) and terminal lugs (6).

ă4. Unscrew MPU (7) from MPU arm (8) and remove from printer (9).

b. Installation

ă1. Screw MPU (7) into MPU arm (8) until it is about half a turn from timing disk (10).
ă2. Connect MPU leads (3) by installing two screws (5) and terminal lugs (6) to terminal strip

(4). White wire goes to terminal 1 and black to terminal 2.

ă3. Perform MPU gap and phasing adjustments per paragraphs 5-10 and 5-11.
ă4. Close rear door (2). Tighten fasteners (1).
