5-23. Shuttle Assembly

-continued

b. Installation, P6080

NOTE: Before continuing, clean mating surfaces of casting and bearing

blocks.

ă1. Set shuttle assembly (15) in position on printer (17) with antirotation arm (18) behind

spring clip (19).

ă2. Hand tighten two captive screws (14).

ă3. Install and hand tighten screws (13, 12, and 11).

ă4. Using two wrenches, simultaneously tighten screws (13 and 14) on left side.

ă5. Repeat step 4 for right side.

ă6. Tighten two screws (12).

ă7. Loosen two screws (9). Comb brackets (20) will pop out.

ă8. Connect four hammer connectors (10). Make sure that connectors align properly such

that male pins do not show at either side.

ă9. Put comb brackets (20) back in place. Tighten two screws (9).

10. Torque screw (8) to 12 in-lbs.

11. Torque bearing block screws.

CAUTION

Torquing to incorrect value or without operating shuttle will damage bearĆ

ings.

(a) Operate shuttle continuously by loading paper, reconnecting ac power, setting

POWER to ON, and cycling ON LINE switch on and off.

(b) Torque screws (13) to: 36 in-lbs for machined bearing blocks; 8 to 10 in-lbs for die

cast blocks.

12. Install cam cover (5) with attached gasket (6) on housing (7). Tighten two captive screws

(2).

13. Adjust platen gap per paragraph 5-9.

14. Place ribbon drive in operating position per paragraph 3-4c9.

15. Replace cover per paragraph 5-17b.

c. Removal, P6040

ă1. Perform Steps 1 through 5 of paragraph 5-23a.

ă2. Remove screw (1).

ă3. Remove two screws (2).
