P6040/P6080 Corrective Maintenance

5-19. Ribbon Drive (Figure 5-15)

a. Removal

ă1. Place ribbon drive assembly in service position per paragraph 3-4c4.
ă2. Check for labels on connectors at J1 (1), J2 (2), and J3 (3) and at ground wire (4). If not

already labeled, install labels during removal (step 3 below).

ă3. Remove connectors at J1 (1), J2 (2), and J3 (3). Remove ground wire (4).
ă4. Cut tie wraps as necessary and slip connectors (1,2,3) and ground wire (4) out through

grommet (5).

ă5. Separate ribbon drive (6) from printer (7).

b. Installation

ă1. Place ribbon drive (6) on printer (7) in service position.
ă2. Feed connectors (1, 2, 3) and ground wire (4) through grommet (5). Retie wires as necesĆ

sary.

ă3. Install ground wire (4) and connectors at J1 (1), J2 (2), and J3 (3).
ă4. Return ribbon drive to operating position per paragraph 3-4c, 9 and 10.

5-20. Ribbon Control PCBA (Figure 5-16)

a. Removal

ă1. Remove ribbon drive per paragraph 5-19a.
ă2. Tag and remove connectors at J4 (1), J5 (2), J6 (3), and J7 (4).
ă3. Remove two screws (5) and ground lug (6).
ă4. Remove two screws (7).
ă5. Remove four nuts (8) to right ribbon motor (9).
ă6. Tip motor (9) and remove ribbon control PCBA (10) from chassis (11).

b. Installation

ă1. Place ribbon control PCBA (10) in chassis (11).
ă2. Install four nuts (8).
ă3. Install two screws (5) and ground lug (6).
ă4. Install two screws (7).
ă5. Connect connectors at J4 (1), J5 (2), J6 (3), and J7 (4).
ă6. Replace ribbon drive per paragraph 5-20b.
