Section II. ALIGNMENTS AND ADJUSTMENTS

5-3. Ribbon Height Adjustment (Figure 5-1)

ă1. Open front cover (1).
ă2. Remove ribbon spools (2) from hubs (3).
ă3. Check distance between bottom of hub (3) and gearbox (4). Hub should just clear gearĆ

box.

ă4. If clearance is incorrect, adjust as follows.

(a) Loosen hub setscrew (5).
(b) Reposition hub (3).
(c) Tighten setscrew (5).

5-4. Ribbon Tracking Check and Adjustment (Figure 5-2)

ă1. Make sure paper is loaded in printer and full ribbon spool is on right.
ă2. Loosen two fasteners (1) and allow rear door (2) to swing open. Open front coveră(3).
ă3. Set POWER to ON.
ă4. Set Forms Thickness Adjustment Lever to any position between open and 6. Make sure

no error indications appear.

ă5. With shuttle motor running, swing out card cage (4) and disconnect J4 (5) on power supply

PCBA (6).

CAUTION

-

J4 must be connected any time printer power is turned on. If it is not,

printer will draw excessive current and may be damaged. Do not disconĆ

nect J4 until printing has started.

ă6. Press and release ON LINE switch. Shuttle action and ribbon motion should begin.
ă7. On left ribbon guide (7) momentarily short across skids (8). Ribbon runs from right to left.
ă8. Verify ribbon is centered in left guide (7). If not, see below. Allow all ribbon to run past

guide during check and adjustment.

(a) Loosen two screws (9) with washers (10) until guide (7) can be rotated about guide

post (11).

(b) Pivot guide (7) until ribbon tracks in center.
(c) Tighten screws (9).
(d) Verify ribbon is centered and winds up without interference on left spool.
