P6040/P6080 Corrective Maintenance

5-27. Flywheel Assembly (Figure 5-23)

a. Removal

ă1. Remove counterweight assembly per paragraph 5-16a.

CAUTION

-

Do not adjust MPU clamp screw - it affects MPU gap.

ă2. Back out screw (1) about .25 inch.
ă3. Move MPU arm (2) away from flywheel (3) as far as support plate (4) allows.
ă4. Remove two screws (5) and star washers (6).
ă5. Slip flywheel assembly (3) out of shuttle belt (7) and lift out of housing (8).

b. Installation

ă1. Slip flywheel assembly (3) into shuttle belt (7) and position in housing (8) per steps 2 and 3

below.

ă2. Slide flywheel assembly (3) back until rear of axle contacts roll pin (9).
ă3. Rotate shaft of flywheel assembly (3) until flats at ends of shaft are at 45 degrees relative

to vertical. Position cam (10) with lobes at top and bottom. Make sure belt (7) engages

grooves in pulley (11) on flywheel (3).

ă4. Install two screws (5) and star washers (6).
ă5. Rotate flywheel (3) a few times to align belt (7) to its pulleys.
ă6. Partially install counterweight assembly per paragraph 5-26b, steps 1 through 6.
ă7. Move MPU arm (2) toward flywheel (3) until it reaches normal operating position.

Tighten screw (1) finger tight.

CAUTION

-

Do not run flywheel prior to adjustment. Damage to printer is possible.

ă8. Adjust MPU per paragraph 5-10. Check shuttle belt tension per paragraph 5-13a. AdĆ

just if necessary per paragraph 5-13.

ă9. Check cam wick (12). Verify it is in contact with cam and properly lubricated. If lubrication

is required, refer to paragraph 3-5.

10. Complete installation of counterweight assembly per paragraph 5-26b, steps 7 through

13.
