The
REVERSE FLOW CONTROL
parameter, also known as terminal flow
control, establishes signals to suspend and resume output to attached peripher-
als. Reverse flow control is similar to flow control, except that it goes in the
other direction, i.e. from the terminal or host to the multiplexer.
When a terminal raises a reverse flow control signal, the remote end is notified
via an internal control message so that flow control can be invoked there to
prevent excessive buildup of data within the multiplexer. The
USER
option can
be used to set arbitrary reverse flow control XON/XOFF characters.
