Employment rules- electrical system
Changes or repairing of the electrical system must be done exclusively by skilled staff belonging to
the P.L.A. S. p.A authorised centres.
Before making interventions on the electrical system switch off all devices and the lights, disconnect
the battery and the external 220 V net connection.
To avoid dangerous short-circuits while disconnecting the battery, remember to disconnect first the
negative pole, then the positive pole. For the re-connection operation makes the opposite.
If you need to replace the fuses, use only the original ones, with values written in the manual.
Replace the defective fuses only after having discovered and removed the cause of the fault.
The motorhome electrical system can be fed directly to 12V using a service battery or,
alternatively, connecting to an external 220 V net.
220 V supply
It occurs with an external cable, whose connection to the motorhome is done through the socket fixed
on the body shell or through an extractable socket( example picture 30).The connection is protected
by a magnetic thermal switch with two poles located in the wardrobe or under the kitchen top.
The external connection plug has got a third “ground” pole which is compulsory for security reasons.
After having connected to the external socket, act on the life saving switch or magnetic thermal
“security General” located inside the wardrobe or under the kitchen top.
The 220V supply allows:
- The internal functioning of the 220 V plugs.
- The functioning of the 220V fridge.
- The automatic charge of the service battery and engine through the battery charger installed on the
motorhome (electrical junction box), The charge current is adapted to the charge level of the battery.
It is not therefore possible that a overload may occur.
All electrical functions inside the body shell are controlled by the “electrical local plant”.
The electrical users are fed by the service battery.
In some models there is s device called “over voltage”(pict. 31), whose aim is double, on the one hand
it functions as life saving, on the other hand like protection from over voltage that can occur while the
vehicle is connected to the 220V external socket; as a matter of fact, in case of exceed of an external
tension equal to 260V, the protection clicks immediately.
CAUTION: for you security, do not work on the electrical parts before having switched off the
current.
