5.9. - Microwave Sensor
5.9.1 - The Microwave Sensor is a non-waterproof internal movement
sensor.
5.9.2.
– The sensor uses microwaves (operating
in the Ghz frequency range). It operates by
signalling when movement is detected with its
adjustable detection sphere. The sensor has
one LED visible from the front indicating
when movement has been adequate to trigger
the module. Sensitivity is adjusted by rotating
the adjusting pot. The Microwave is a Normally
Open NO sensor.
5.9.3. - As the frequency used for detection travels through most materials
except metal and as the sensor is small enough it can be discreetly
mounted completely out of view. The sensitivity can be adjusted from
around 0.5m to excess of a 4 meter sphere;
the sensor should be
mounted and sensitivity adjusted such that the area requiring detection is
covered but above the waterline and not too large so as to be falsely
triggered by passersby or wildlife.
It should be noted that Florescent
Tube Lighting can interfere with Microwave sensors so it is important not
to leave florescent lights switched on in the sensors vicinity.
5.9.4. - The sensor should be securely mounted to a stable, rigid surface (it
is possible to mount behind a headlining). The cable should be securely
routed back to the control unit; if an extension is required suitable
connectors should be used (waterproof if in a potentially wet area).
5.9.5. - When using default configuration connect: -
RED wire to one of the power-out terminals.
GREEN wire to the chosen Channel terminal (
e.g. terminal T (Channel 11) )
BLACK wire to one of the ground-out terminals.
