5.8. - Beam Break Sensor
5.8.1. - The Beam Break Sensor is a waterproof optical beam break sensor.
5.8.2. - The sensor is a transceiver and uses a Retroflector to
reflect the beam back (across the area to be protected)
to the unit. It operates by signalling when the beam
is broken. If a Beam Brake is covered (or out of
alignment) during ‘Arming’ the Beeper will bleep
four times as a warning. The Beam Brake has its
own configuration (i.e. in not Normally Open or
Normally Closed). See Advanced Set Up for Configuration
Instructions.
5.8.3. - The Beam Break is ideally located across a walkway or
access point. As it is waterproof it can be mounted outside
thus triggering prior to any damage caused by attempted
break in. Consideration should be given to prevent accidental triggering by
direct sunlight, birds and other wildlife.
5.8.4. - The sensor and Retroflector should be securely mounted to stable,
rigid surfaces on opposite sides of the area to be protected (no more than
2.5m apart). The cable should be securely routed back to the control unit;
if an extension is required suitable connectors should be used (waterproof
if in a potentially wet area).
5.8.5. - Connect: -
BROWN & WHITE wires to one of the power-out terminals
BLACK wire to the chosen Channel terminal (
e.g. terminal S (Channel 10) )
BLUE wire to one of the ground-out terminals.
