11.12. - GeoFence Operation
(Not applicable to Monitor I)
11.12.1. - Monitor is equipped with a GeoFence alarm. This means that
you are able to set a geographical ring ‘fence’. If the boat leaves this area
when the system is armed, the alarm will be triggered. This feature has
dual use, ‘anti - theft’ and ‘anchor slip’.
11.12.2. - You can configure the radius of the circular area in units of 10m
and also whether the siren and strobe will be triggered or just a message
sent when the GeoFence area is left. The following messages can be used
to configure the GeoFence:
11.12.2.1. - Secret, fence, disable
(Disables the GeoFence)
11.12.2.2. - Secret, fence
(Queries the fence settings)
11.12.2.3. - Secret, fence, 6, alarm
(Sets Fence radius to 60m, with
a full alarm)
11.12.2.4. - Secret, fence, 10, message
(Sets Fence radius to 100m, with
a message only)

The centre of the GeoFence area is set ‘as is’ when the alarm is
armed. It is possible that the GeoFence may occasionally false alarm – this
is a limitation of GPS. It is recommended that the GeoFence radius not be
set less than 50m
– the larger the area the less likely it is to false alarm. If
the GeoFence triggers, wait a few minutes then query the boats position.
You can verify on a map that the boat really has moved a significant
amount.
11.12.4. - If triggered Monitor will, depending on speed, (under 2 knots re-
report every time the GeoFence distance is re-broken or over 2 knots
report every 30 minutes or 10 miles whichever occurs first). This will
provide accurate information where a slipping anchor is the cause in a
tight area and where a boat has been stolen not send hundreds of alarm
texts.
