Remove and Replace the WS4 and WS4 LX FRUs

Remove and Replace the Magnetic Stripe Reader

Remove and Replace the Magnetic Stripe Reader

The following procedure describes how to remove and replace the mag stripe reader,
and applies to both the Workstation 4 and Workstation 4 LX.

See page 6-4 to remove the Top Cover.

See page 6-8 to remove the RF Shield.

1.

Remove the four screws that hold the MSR spill cover in place.

2.

Remove the pair screws that hold the reader assembly to each bracket.

3.

If a toroid is installed on the interface cable, remove it and transfer to the cable on
the replacement reader. The WS4 LX does not use a toroid on the Mag Card
Reader interface cable.

4.

Orient the replacement reader assembly so that the cable exits to the left as shown
in Figure 6-28 and attach the brackets.

Replace the spill cover and re-install the four screws.
