WS4 LX Technical Overview

W83627HF Super IO

UART B

UART B is assigned to COM3. COM3 is shared between the Mag Stripe Reader 
and Customer Display Port.

See the Customer Display/Mag Card Reader Port section for more information.

RS422 Port A and B Control Signals

Six pins borrowed from the unused parallel port are dedicated to controlling the 
multi-protocol RS422-A and RS422-B ports. 

COM 3 Mux Control Signals

A total of seven GPIO signals are dedicated to controlling the COM 3 Multiplexer and 
LCD interface. See the Customer Display/MSR Interface for more information on 
these signals.

Hardware Monitor

The Super IO hardware monitor is configured to display several hardware parameters 
including the CPU temperature and voltages including VCORE, VCC3 and 
VCCMEM.

Cash Drawer Control

Four pins are dedicated to the Cash Drawer Interface. Two signals, 

CD_ST_A

 and 

CD_ST_B

 are used to monitor the cash drawer open/closed status through the WS4 

LX API. Drawer open signals 

CD_OPEN_A

 and 

CD_OPEN_B

 drive the interface 

circuit on Sheet 29.

System Board Hardware Revision

Four pins from the unused Game/MIDI port are connected to the board revision tracks 
REV0 - REV3 on the system board. The WS4 LX API examines these pins to report 
the System Board hardware revision.See page 4-24 for more details.
