WS4 LX Troubleshooting
Local Area Network (LAN) Related
•
Defective or damaged in-wall cabling between the WS4 LX and other network
device.
•
Defective or non-powered network device. (For example, the WS4 LX is
connected to a network switch, but the device is not powered).
WS4 LX will not Connect to LAN (Link LED ON)
Symptoms: When the WS4 LX is connected to a LAN, the Link LED illuminates, but
the unit cannot connect to a server.
•
The WS4 LX may need to be configured for DHCP, but a static IP address is
assigned. Moving a workstation between 9700 and 3700 systems may cause this
problem to arise.
MICROS and third party applications use different methods of assigning an IP
address to the WS4 LX. Some POS applications (9700) may require that the WS4
LX obtain the IP address via DHCP, while others (RES) may require the WS4 LX
be assigned a ‘static’ IP address.
•
To configure the workstation for DCHP or Static IP, from the desktop, press
Start - Settings - Network and Dial-Up Connections.
•
Touch the PCI-RTCENIC1 icon twice.
•
In the IP address tab, make the selection between DHCP or Static IP and enter
a static IP address suitable for the site (normally in the 192.168.x.x range) if
required.
•
Restart the WS4 LX after making changes to network settings.
