Chapter 3 Configuring the OC-3 Mode Ports and Channels Using the Console

Configuring All Channels on a Virtual DS1 Port on the Channelized OC-3 CES Module (No Strapping)

Specifies whether DS0 failures will affect the specific DS0
that has failed or the entire DS1 that the failed DS0 is
located in. This field allows you to select the type of
interworking to be done with the circuit emulation end
point whenever there is an alarm for the ATM side of
any CE-to-ATM connection on a given port.

TrunkCond

Indicates that trunk conditioning will be done for each
channel of this port whose corresponding ATM side is
alarmed. Trunk Conditioning improves the communica-
tion of the trunk status for TDM traffic. The PSAX system
will return a busy signal only for the DS0 (each DS0 con-
tains one time slot, i.e., one phone line) that is affected
by the connection that is not working. For more infor-

Unframed1s

Indicates that unframed 1’s are to be used on the virtual
DS1. If you select this value, a sequence of Unframed All
1’s (AIS) will be transmitted to the CE end point when-
ever there is an alarm or the ATM side for any circuit
emulation-to-ATM connection on this port. The PSAX
system will return a busy signal for the DS1 (each DS1
contains 24 DS0s), and generate a T1 level alarm when
any of the DS0s is disconnected. The PSAX system will
also forward T1 alarms from one PBX to another. For
