Configuration Parameters/Status Panel
MSP Mode
Default:
Unidirec-
tional
Range: N/A
Format: Predefined
Specifies the transmit direction in MSP mode. Prior to
entering bidirectional mode from unidirectional mode,
you should clear outstanding manual commands and line
status. Otherwise you may have to manually synchronize
the two nodes.
Unidirectional
MSP switchover is governed by conditions on whichever
end of the termination is set to unidirectional in the send
direction.
Bidirectional
MSP switchover is governed by both near-end and far-end
conditions. The active (or non-standby) port of the termi-
nation must remain in synchronization with the far-end
active (or non-standby) port for successful switchover to
occur.
[MSP Option]
Default:
Nonrever-
tive
Range: N/A
Format: Predefined
Indicates that once the active status has switched from the
working module to the protection module, the active sta-
tus cannot revert automatically to the working module.
Working SF BER
Default:
TenToMin
us4
Range: N/A
Format: Predefined
Specifies the signal-failure bit error rate (SF BER) thresh-
old on the working module port. When the BER exceeds
the threshold, the system switches the active status from
the working module to the protection module.
TenToMinus4
Selects an SF BER of 10
-4
for an extremely low quality sig-
nal threshold.
TenToMinus5
Selects an SF BER of 10
-5
for a very low quality signal
threshold, which indicates a signal failure (SF).
Working SD BER
Default:
TenToMinus5
Range: N/A
Format: Predefined
Specifies the signal-degraded bit error rate (SD BER) value
on the working module port.
TenToMinus5
10
-5
(lowest quality threshold, indicates that the signal is
“signal degraded” (SD).
TenToMinus6
10
-6
(lower than 10
-7
quality threshold).
TenToMinus7
10
-7
(lower than 10
-8
quality threshold).
TenToMinus8
10
-8
(low quality).
Protection SF BER Default:
TenToMinus4
Range:
Format:
Specifies the signal-failure bit error rate (SF BER) for the
protection module port. When the BER value on the pro-
tection port exceeds the threshold value, the system
switches the active status from the protection module to
the working module.
TenToMinus4
10
-4
(extremely low quality signal).
TenToMinus5
10
-5
(very low quality signal, indicates a failed signal
(SF)).
