PSAX 1-Port Channelized OC-3/STM-1 CES Module User Guide
, Issue 1
Release 11.0.0
Chapter 4 Configuring the STM-1 Mode Ports and Channels Using the Console
Configuring All Channels on a Port (Channelization Disabled)
Begin
1
After you have selected the module you want to configure on the Equip-
ment Configuration window (see Figure 4-6) select a Ch-OC3STM1-MM
or Ch-OC3STM1-SM module. The Channelized STM-1 Port Configura-
tion window is displayed in Figure 4-8 (note that the default OC-3 mode
for the module displays. You must change the default Operating Mode
from
OC3
to
STM1
in Step 2 below when you set the values for the
fields). Table 4-4 describes the commands on the window. Table 4-5
describes the fields on the window.
2
Select the values for the fields on the window from Table 4-5.
3
After you have set all the values, select the
Apply Port Configuration
command. A line status message displays:
The port and channel configuration has been applied.
Figure 4-9 displays the window after the
Apply Port Configuration
command is applied. Note the window has changed from displaying trhe
default OC3 fields to displaying STM1 fields after you selected the value
STM1
in the Operating Mode field.
Also note that if you are configuring MSP, that if you set MSP Configured
field to “
Working
” as you were setting your window values, that the
chassis CPU will determine if you have the correct modules in the even
and odd numbered slots, as explained in Step 3 of the “Module Configu-
ration Preparatory Steps” section earlier. If a pair of MM or SM modules
are positioned in the correct slots, two new fields display on the window:
[Working Slot]......xx , Active
, and
[Protection Slot]....xx , Standby
The Working Slot and Protection Slot display indicate that the CPU has
determined that the modules are correctly positioned in the chassis for
an MSP working/protection configuration. It does not mean that the
active module is ready to pass traffic in MPS configuration. This occurs
only after the active module is completely configured and brought into
service.
4
Remain on this window and continue with the “Configuring All Chan-
nels on a Port (Channelization Disabled)” procedure.
