ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
BOILER WATER DRAIN
If it becomes necessary to empty the boiler, cut off power to the machine by turning the main switch
30
to position “zero” or,
in the case of gas-heated machines, put off the flame by closing the gas supply valve
49
. Remove the grounds collecting tray
and its grill and open the boiler water drain valve
4
(see water supply diagram on page 34).
Open a steam valve
29
to help the drainage of the water until the completion of the operation.
BOILER WATER CHARGING
Check that the drain valve
4
is closed and reposition the grounds collecting tray and its grill.
Open the main water supply valve
15
.
Open a steam valve
29
to vent the air in the boiler filling phase.
Only for PRACTICAL and SPRING models:
turn the main switch
30
to position 1 to carry out the automatic filling of the
boiler with the heating elements off. When filling is completed, the “MAX” led will light up.
Other models:
make sure that the main switch is turned to “zero”.
Press the button
28
and hold it pressed until the water rises to 3/4 of the visual level indicator
31
.
CLEANING THE UNITS
For optimum machine efficiency, it is important that the user carry out the following operations at the end of every day.
Prearrange on the cup the blind filter (filter without holes) provided with the machine.
Connect the cup with the blind filter to the unit to be cleaned, without locking it.
Press the continuous flow button and allow the water to flow out of the filter cup for about one minute; this will clean the
sprinkler and the feeding pipe.
Lock the filter cup to stop the water from overflowing from the blind filter.
Activate the continuous feeding for about 5 seconds and then stop it; repeat this operation for 5 or 6 times; this will clean the
drainage channel and the solenoid.
With feeding stopped, return the perfectly clean normal filter into the cup.
Note: for a more efficient cleaning, a small quantity of special commercially available food-friendly detergents can be added to
the blind filter.
CLEANING THE FILTER CUP
The filter cup does not require any particular cleaning, but it is important to clean it at the start of long idle periods. To do this,
it is sufficient to remove any residual coffee grounds from the cup, insert it into the unit, without coffee, and then open the
water for about one minute. To clean the inside of the cup and the spout, remove the filter by prying it out with a screwdriver
or other similar tool. To remove any hard dirt, use a small brush with hot water (avoid using detergents).
CLEANING THE GRILLS AND TRAYS
The cup support grills (upper and lower) must always be kept clean. During normal daily use it is sufficient to use a moist
sponge cloth. At the end of the working day, remove the lower grill with the relative tray to properly clean all the surfaces,
including the corners, using a brush with hot water and detergent.
ATTENTION
Never direct any jets of water, steam or other directly against the machine.
Before starting the machine cleaning or maintenance operations, UNPLUG THE POWER CABLE, IF POSSIBLE, OR
DISCONNECT THE OMNIPOLAR SWITCH UPSTREAM OF THE MACHINE. In cleaning the machine, avoid using
products such as alcohol, petrol or solvents in general; use water and neutral detergents.
IDLE PERIODS
When the machine is expected to remain idle for more or less lengthy periods (overnight, weekly closure days, or holidays), it
will be necessary to deactivate it as follows in order to guarantee its efficiency and proper operation when it is restarted:
- unplug the power cable;
- empty the boiler and completely drain the connected tubes;
- wash the machine properly with water and neutral detergents and dry it;
- inspect the machine thoroughly and change any worn or damaged parts;
- cover the machine.
Failure to comply with these basic safety norms releases the manufacturer from any liability for resulting personal or
material damage.
