Paper Handling > Precautions of Special Paper

Letterhead

Because letterhead paper has a top and a bottom and a front and a back, loading in the wrong orientation may result in
incorrect printing. Before loading letterhead that has not been registered in Paper Catalog in the paper source, check the
orientation of the top and bottom and the front and back. Select [

Banner Paper

When directly feeding banner paper from the main unit multipurpose tray, load one sheet at a time. If Banner Guide 10 is
installed, you can load up to 10 sheets at once. When using Banner Guide 11, you can feed sheets of banner paper up
to 700 mm in length continuously. If over 700 mm, you must load one sheet at a time.

Colored Paper

Colored paper must conform to the specifications.

Basic Paper Specifications that can be Used with This Machine (page 7-2)

Thick Paper

Before feeding thick paper, fan it and align the edges. If there is burring (a thin ridge caused by cutting the paper), place
the paper on a flat surface and use a ruler to gently stroke the paper once or twice to remove the burring. Attempting to
print on paper with burring may result in incorrect feeding such as skewing, double-feeding, and paper jams. The burring
may also cause paper dust that will degrade print quality. Do not use paper from which burring cannot be removed.

Do not use thick paper with convex or concave curling, or a wave edge.

CAUTION

Do not feed thick paper if you have not specified thick paper for the media type. The paper may contact the
print head and damage it.
