ence on the EMC of the encoder. Therefore, the installer must secure the EMC of the whole plant
(device).
Voltage peaks on the supply cable are to be limited to max. 1000 V by the upstream power supply. In
electrostatically critical areas, a good ESD protection is to be provided during installation work for the
connectors and the cable to be connected.
The connection cable is suitable only for fixed installation (no mobile operation). The choice of the
cable, in compliance with the Ex regulations, is the responsibility of the plant builder. The flameproof
encoder housing may in no case be opened.
The encoders of the 70x3SIL model series are manufactured in compliance with Directive 94/9/EC.
The product is intended exclusively for integration in or mounting on suitable plants.
Operation is prohibited until the conformity of the final product with Directive 94/9/EC is declared. Any
repair work at the ignition puncture-proof joint surfaces may only be carried out in compliance with
the relevant design specifications of the manufacturer. Repair work according to the values of Table 2
of standard EN 60079-1:2004 is not authorized.
If the encoder is used for operation in another temperature range than the range indicated in the EC
type examination certificate, an electrical/thermal test and a heating check must be performed at
selected critical locations. The manufacturer is to be informed about this.
– The cable gland is screwed on the cover with the M16 x 1.5 thread.
– The cover is fastened on the flange with 4 cylindrical head screws M4 x 0.7, strength class 8.8.
– The encoder may not be mounted/operated in case of visible damages. It may be repaired only by
the Fritz Kübler GmbH Company.
