3. Functional safety

3.1 Safety Funcions

According to DIN EN 61800-5-2, the following safety functions can be achieved with the encoder: 
•  SS1:

Safe Stop 1

Monitoring of the braking ramp and STO after standstill

•  SS2:

Safe Stop 2

Monitoring of the braking ramp and SOS after standstill  

•  SOS:

Safe Operating Stop

Monitoring of the standstill of the energized and
controlled motor

•  SLS:

Safe Limited Speed

Monitoring of a speed limit value.

•  SLI:

Safe Limited Increment

The respect of a specific step value during motion

of Position

is monitored.

•  SLP:

Safe Limited Position

Monitors the adherence to position limits specified for the drive.

•  SDI:

Safe Direction

Monitoring of the unintended direction of motion of the motor.

•  SSM:

Safe Speed Monitoring

A safe output signal is generated when the motor speed is
lower than a specified value.
