Switch the front panel from local to remote and also connect pin 17 (Re-
mote setpoint select) to pin 7 or 8 (common) on the DB-37. This selects the
remote setpoints option for both the DB-25 and the DB-37 ports. The four
stored programs are not available with the remote setpoint option.
To enable the system, connect pin 7 (Beam on) to pin 20 (Beam on return)
on the rear panel DB-25 connector. Removing the connection between pin
7 and pin 20 returns the Auto Controller to standby.
Table 6-1. Pin descriptions for the female DB-25 connector on the Auto
Controller.
Pin
Number
Description
1
Source Gas Flow Actual (Channel 1): 0 to +5V DC output,
where +5V DC represents full scale output from the MFC (ref-
erenced to pin 10).
2
Emission Current Actual: 0 to +5V DC output where 0V DC
represents 0A DC of emission current and +5V DC represents
7A of emission current (referenced to pin10).
3
Neutralization Current Actual: 0 to +5V DC output where 0V
DC represents 0A DC of neutralization current
fl
owing and +5V
DC represents -2A of neutralization current (referenced to pin
10).
4
Anode Voltage Set Point: 0 to +5V DC input signal where +5V
DC represents the maximum anode voltage value of 170 Volts
(referenced to pin 17).
5
Anode Current: 0 to +5 V DC input signal, where +5V DC rep-
resents a maximum anode current setting of 5A DC (refer-
enced to pin 18).
6
Neutralization Current Set Point: 0 to +5V DC input signal (ref-
erenced to pin 19) where the following relationship exists: NI
STPT+ = 1.1V + (2.1*INEUT). For example, 1.73V DC would
yield a neutralization current of 0.3A DC.
7
Beam On switch: This input signal is used in conjunction with
pin 20. When these two pins are shorted, the controller is
placed in AUTO mode and the beam is turned on. When these
two pins are open, the beam is turned off.
