Programmable IV Pole
The programmable IV pole is controlled by the up and down arrows on the upper right of the
touchscreen, next to the bottle height indicator. The buttons on the VERITAS Remote
Control and the rocker switch on the side of the console can also be used to control the IV
pole. The height is set on the Programmable IV Pole screen. The IV pole moves at a rate of
approximately 7.6 cm per second (3 inches per second).
The IV pole is adjustable from 0 to 106 centimeters, and can be set for either inches or
centimeters. When Advanced Infusion is enabled, the IV pole height displayed on the
touchscreen monitor represents the effective bottle height, which consists of the height of
the IV pole above the zero point plus 30 cm H
2
0 supplied by the pressurized infusion. The
height measurement is relative to the distance from the irrigation valve to the center of the
drip chamber. The IV pole height for each fluidic mode or submode (Phaco, I/A, Vitrectomy)
is saved in the system memory. A maximum IV pole height can be set from the Configuration
screen.
When a surgery mode is selected, the IV pole automatically moves to the preset height. To
manually adjust the IV pole height, use the up and down arrows on the touchscreen monitor.
Manual adjustments to the IV pole can also be made by pressing the rocker switch located
on the side of the console. If a maximum height has been set, the IV pole does not move
above that height.
VERITAS Remote Control
The wireless VERITAS Remote Control keypad can be used to move between the surgical
modes and submodes. Adjustments to the surgical mode and submode settings can be made
with the VERITAS Remote Control. The buttons on the remote keypad work the same as the
controls on the system touchscreen monitor (see
Figure 3-14 below).
