Removing and Replacing the Riser Card

Before you begin:

Ÿ

Read “Electrical Safety” on page 45 and “Handling
Static-Sensitive Devices” on page 46.

Ÿ

Turn off the server.

Ÿ

Disconnect all external cables and power cords; then, remove
the server cover (see “Removing the Cover” on page 49).

Removing the Riser Card

1. If any adapters have cable connections to the system board or to

a drive, disconnect the cables. Note the cable connector
locations so that you can reconnect them.

2. If any adapters are connected to the riser card, note their

positions; then remove them. For instructions, see “Removing
Adapters” on page 61.

3. Disconnect the power cable that is attached to the riser card.

Note where this cable connects so that you can reattach it later.
