HPE StoreOnce 5250 and 5650 System installation process
overview

Procedure

1. Prepare the rack.

2. Verify system handling requirements.

3. Install the StoreOnce 5250 and 5650 base systems.

4. Install the capacity upgrade kits, if any.

Capacity upgrade kits can be installed before or after configuring the newly installed system.

5. Configure the newly installed system.

Preparing the rack for the StoreOnce 5250 and 5650
Systems

Procedure

Verify that the rack and data center floor are sturdy enough to support the system. StoreOnce 5250
and 5650 storage enclosures are heavier than most computer systems.

• A fully expanded StoreOnce 5250 system weighs 195 kg (430 lbs).

• A fully expanded StoreOnce 5650 system weighs 371 kg (818 lbs).

Verify that the rack is positioned to provide sufficient front and side clearance for hard drive
replacement.

If any obstacles are within these minimum clearances, you will not be able to access the drive bays at
the rear of the drawer.

• At least 1,000 mm to the front to extend the hard disk drive drawer fully.

• At least 300 mm to the right of the extended drawer to allow removal of the drives from the drawer.
